I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist,  and I provide individual, relationship, and group therapy. Additionally, I am a Certified Sex Therapist with the American Association of Sexuality Educators Counselors and Therapists (AASECT) and work with a wide variety of presenting issues for relationships and individuals.  Previously, I gained 8 years of experience working with the public defender office on cases involving clients who are facing the death penalty.  My work with this specialized group of clients involved relationship building, family functional analysis and development of intensive bio-psycho-social history narratives on clients and their families.  My work in these and other unique settings, taught me that none of us are the worst thing we have ever done, and the times when we are at our worst often are the times when we need love the most.  This meaningful work has taught me a tremendous amount about human suffering and the amazing ability of the human spirit to heal, and to thrive in the midst of a vast array of circumstances.  I hope and trust that with Creative Approaches to Healing, we can engage the therapeutic process together to find an approach that heals the things that have been harmed and builds on the things that have thrived in your life.

I completed my undergraduate studies at Greensboro College (2000), my Master of Divinity (2004) and Doctor of Ministry (2018) degrees at Emory University, was ordained in the United Methodist Church, Western North Carolina Annual Conference in 2009, received my Marriage and Family Therapy License in 2010, and my AASECT Certification as a Sex Therapist in 2016.  I had the opportunity to study at the Link Counseling Center’s Marriage and Family Therapy Training Institute and served clients at the Genesis Shelter as part of my training before becoming a full Clinical Fellow with the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy.  I have served on a number of boards nationally and locally, including; the Fulton County Division of Family and Children Services Board; the Emory University Hope Clinic for HIV/AIDS Research Community Advisory Board; Greensboro College Board of Trustees; and the City of Atlanta Mayor’s LGBTQ Advisory Board.  I am also a proud alumnus of the LEAD Atlanta class of 2011, the New Leaders Council class of 2013 and Outstanding Atlanta class of 2013.
